I have learned how to learn, an essential skill and one that made my further post-secondary studies much less demanding. Through its hands on ministry experience programming and offerings, I have learned the value and importance of balancing and organizing work, family life, and ministry involvement. As a whole, ABC’s education is priceless. It develops you in your life, faith, knowledge, and understanding beyond what you thought you could live, believe, know or comprehend.” - ABC Student Alberta Bible College 635 Northmount Dr. NW Calgary, AB T2K 3J6 Phone: 1-877-542-9492 E-mail: info@abc-ca.org Web: www.abc-ca.orgOne of the strengths of Alberta Bible College (ABC) is the Practical Ministry Program. Students find the opportunity to become involved in hands-on ministry throughout their entire time at ABC to be one of the most meaningful aspects of their learning experience. During the first full week of November an intensive 4–15 day ministry experience allows first-year students to serve at Calgary’s Mustard Seed; second-year students to serve in a variety of cross-cultural settings in western Canada or Montana; and the third-year students participate in a 15-day international trip with Graceland Ministries in Poland. The fourth-year students spend four days in Kananaskis Country participating in an integrative seminar that encourages students to articulate their philosophies of ministry. In late March each student participates in an extended weekend ministry experience in a church setting in western Canada. The teams, which are student led, have opportunity to minister to youth, children, and adults in both urban and rural congregations. Through these experiences, students are able to apply classroom learning immediately and are able to have their questions about practical ministry answered through course work and class discussions. This integration means that ABC students and graduates gain valuable experience and are competent in both ministry and leadership. Many are in demand among churches and in para-church organizations.

Each family works alongside volunteers to build their home then purchases it through a no-interest, long-term mortgage which allows equity-building and insulates them from the fluctuating housing costs they experienced as renters. Our goal is to help families in need provide opportunity and hope for their children. The two Habitat Stores support our work by selling new and used donated building supplies, appliances, furniture and décor items to the public. The net proceeds contribute to construction and cover the administration costs of the organization, so 100% of all donations go directly to building homes for low-income families. Child & Family Services 1731 29 Street SWCalgary, AB T3C 1M6 Phone: 403-246-1124 Email: info@childrens-village.org Web: www.childrens-village.org Formerly known as the Children’s Village, the Salvation Army Child & Family Services really began in the early 1900’s. That’s when the Salvation Army began ‘rescue work’ for abandoned women and their children, in Calgary. The first Salvation Army children’s home was opened in 1908, for nine children. In 1920, five-and-a-half acres of land in Killarney was donated for a children’s village ¾ a home for children who were orphaned, abandoned or could not be cared for by their families. In 1979, the agency evolved into a short-term intensive residential treatment centre. The new treatment approach used a wide range of therapeutic strategies to assist the children to gain skills they needed to live successfully in the community. A campus school for children was established in the autumn of 1980, and now the school programs have grown to accommodate 109 children. The ‘Village’ has grown into The Salvation Army Child and Family Services, a comprehensive treatment centre with a continuum of programs serving over 1,450 children and families per year. Wycliffe Bible Translators 4316 - 10 St NE Calgary, AB T2E 6K3 Phone: 1-800-463-1143 Email: info@wycliffe.ca Web: www.wycliffe.caNearly 40 per cent of the world's 6,800 languages do not have even one verse of God's Word. While millions of people wait for a translation of the Scriptures, they are cut off from fully understanding God's love and God's ways. Wycliffe has a vision that by 2025, Bible translation will be in progress for every language that needs it. Wycliffe, in partnership with others, is working to help the Church translate Scripture, train field personnel in linguistics and promote interest in translation. Church planters can't effectively share the Gospel and disciple new Christians without God's Word. Christian radio can't beam Scripture into remote areas unless it has been translated. Evangelism, training, worship—all ministries are hampered unless people have a Bible they can really understand.
