Canmore Prayer Centre has big vision
Canmore, AB — New Life Centre, a prayer ministry, owns 2.1
acres along the Trans Canada Highway in Canmore. They are in the process of
building a 10,000 square foot addition to their existing centre.
 |
It will contain a 300-seat auditorium with conference
capabilities and will house five ministries.
1.) A House of Prayer for all nations (Local, National,
International, 24/7);
2.) A Training and Discipleship School (Mentoring, YWAM-like
School, Bible Classes);
3.) A Youth Centre (Creative Arts, Music, Dance,
Discipleship, Outreach, Fun);
4.) A Conference Centre (Wedding Chapel, Arts,
Business, Major Functions) and
5.) A Hospitality Centre (Refreshing for Christian
Workers, Housing, Catering).

The facility is being built in three phases. Phase one was
to renovate the existing house on the property into a prayer chapel. This has
been done.
The House of Prayer ministry began over a year ago and has
hosted joint-church functions and city-wide worship events.
Phase two will be the 10,000 square foot addition. It will
have a large glass-enclosed foyer overlooking the Three Sisters, a 300 seat
auditorium with sound stage, four large classrooms, coffee kiosk and dance
studio.
This multi-functional facility will be used for weddings,
conferences, inter-church meetings, sound recording, plays and concerts.
Phase three of the project will be to acquire 14 more acres
adjacent to the property and build a 3,000 seat auditorium with both education
and business wings along with accommodation in the upper three floors.
"We intend to have rooms and suites available to
accommodate Christian workers who can come and be refreshed," said Ian
Wilkinson, member of the New Life group spearheading the project.
"This vision is bigger than any one church group,"
Wilkinson continued. "We know that this will be a concerted effort by more than
one congregation. We pray that God will open a fountain of refreshing on the
land and that the thirsty will come from all nations and be refreshed and go
back to labor in their mission field, strengthened by the Word and Spirit of
God. We hope to continue to make the vision clear and to connect with all
like-minded people in the Valley and outside the Valley to see His Kingdom come;
His will be done."
"We believe the prophetic purpose of Canmore is to
refresh," Wilkinson concluded. "Canmore was established as a stopping point on
the railway for trains to take on fuel and water and for the passengers to get
out to get refreshments and stretch their legs. Now Canmore and its surrounding
area is a world-class vacation destination where people come to enjoy the
recreations available here. We see Canmore as a place of spiritual refreshing as
well as natural refreshing. Therefore our slogan is... Refreshing of Spirit,
Soul and Body."
