Vibe Artist Nominated For Grammy
CALGARY — Winnipeg rapper Fresh I.E. was nominated
for a Grammy Award in the Best Rock Gospel Album
category for his Red Letterz CD on the Soar music
label.
The announcement was made by the Recording Academy
in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday, December
4, 2003.
As a member of Resurrection & Life, Fresh I.E.
(Rob Wilson) was previously nominated for two
Vibe
Awards in 2003. The group’s double-disc CD, Tha
Wordship & Tha Praise; Tha Blacksmith & Tha Blade
was up for Rap/Hip-Hop/Dance Album of the Year,
while Stand, co-written by Wilson and Kevin Manness, was in the running for Song of the Year.

Stand is one of 15 tracks featured on Vibe Hits,
Volume One, available at Christian retailers
throughout Canada.
In the Rock Gospel category at the Grammys, Fresh
I.E. is joined by Relient K, which is fronted by
Canadian Matt Thiessen. Relient K is nominated for
their CD, Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right...But Three
Do.
Other nominees in the category are Audio
Adrenaline, Worldwide; Petra, Jekyll & Hyde; and
Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Unclassified.
For a Canadian Christian artist to be nominated
for a Grammy is a rare feat, to have two Canadians
in the same gospel category is unprecedented. |
